Rachel Lopez

Rachel Lopez, choreographer, creates movement that integrates modern dance with her love of humanity, nature, yoga, and spirituality. She has choreographed for Highways Performance Space, Rio Hondo College, Santa Monica College's Synapse Dance Theater and Kol Neshama Performing Arts Conservatory. Rachel also performs as a dance artist in Los Angeles. She was a company member of Loretta Livingston and Dancers from 2003 to 2006, and since has worked with choreographers Diana Sherwood, Kristen Smiarowski and Meg Wolfe. In 2006 and 2007, she performed in Mexico at El Centro Cultural Tijuana with Grupo de Danza Minerva Tapia. She has taught yoga, Pilates, and modern dance at Rio Hondo College in Whittier, as well as Cal State Long Beach and Long Beach City College. She also shares her love of movement with children by teaching dance improvisation and choreography in private classes. She received her BA from U.C. Santa Cruz and an MFA in Dance from U.C. Irvine.
