
Sara Duchovnay, soprano, is pleased to make her debut with the San Francisco Bach Choir. Originally from Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Sara holds a Bachelors of Music from The Hartt School of Music and is currently completing her Masters of Music in vocal performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she studies with Catherine Cook.
A versatile performer with eclectic tastes, Sara has performed a range of operatic roles, including Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, the title role in Handel’s Alcina, Le Feu and La Princesse in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges, Euridice in Offenbach’s Orphée aux enfers, Valencienne in Lehar’s Die lustige Witwe, and Mrs. Gobineau in Menotti’s The Medium. Sara has had a busy 2011–2012 season, highlights of which include the role of Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, the role of Mme. Herz (Mme. Goldentrill) in Mozart’s singspiel Die Shauspieldirektor, and the role of Poppea in Handel’s Agrippina with the SFCM Baroque Ensemble.
Sara recently participated in the Astoria Music Festival’s Apprentice Program in Astoria, Oregon, where she coached the role of Susanna with Ruth Ann Swenson and also participated in a master class series with the renowned soprano. Sara has also sung for soprano Danielle De Niese in master class, and in the fall of 2011 had the wonderful opportunity to work with Martin Katz during his residency at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
