| Original Text | English Translation |
Gloria in excelsis Deo, Gloria in excelsis Deo. Gloria in excelsis Deo, Gloria in excelsis Deo. Gloria in excelsis Deo, Gloria in excelsis Deo. |
In our fields the angels have begun to sing the heavenly hymn, and from our mountains the echo repeats this melodious song. Gloria in excelsis Deo! Gloria in excelsis Deo! Shepherds, for whom is this celebration? What is the point of all these songs? What conqueror, what conquest merits these triumphant cries? Gloria in excelsis Deo! Gloria in excelsis Deo! They announce the birth of the liberator of Israel, and full of gratitude they sing on this solemn day. Gloria in excelsis Deo! Gloria in excelsis Deo! |
