Dixit autem Maria: Ecce ancilla Domini, fiat mihi secundum verbum tuum. |
The Angel Gabriel is sent to the Virgin Mary, announcing to her the Word: "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women!" When she had heard this she was troubled by his words; and she pondered what kind of greeting this was. And the Angel said to her: "Fear not, Mary, for you have found favor before God: Behold! you will conceive in your womb, and you will bear a son, and you will call his name Jesus." And Mary spoke: "Behold! I am the handmaid of the Lord, May it be done to me according to your word." |
